Train or spoil a child....

Proverbs 22 verse 6 says that:
“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”

We may all have different attitudes towards life but I believe that it is every parent’s desire to raise wonderful, polite, God fearing, respectful, joyful, loving, obedient and successful children. We come from different backgrounds. Some believe in smacking, some in grounding and some in reasoning together by discussing why the child has behaved a certain way and seeing if there is something that can be done to avoid such behaviour in future.

Most parents always want the best for their children but sometimes it is not always easy for children to obey their parents or be what their parents want them to be. The children are only human and they make mistakes so please do not expect miracles over night. A little bit of patience goes a very long way. Do not compare your children with other people’s children. Invest your time in your children and love them too.

Staying in Aberdeen has not been easy for me. The life has been so hectic and stressful. Getting a housekeeper is very expensive compared to where I am originally from. My attitude towards life has always been to find ways to make my life easier and smoother. I found out that having children can be a good way of reducing the house workload. I am not talking about abusing our children and using them as housekeepers but just teaching them to be responsible without them knowing that they are actually doing some housework.

From the age of two, children can learn to do some little chores, e.g. tidying up the toys. One can make up a song just for tidying up. It is up to you to decide how you want the chores to be done. As a child I was never a fan of doing house chores but I had to do my bit. Nothing has changed in that department but since I have a flare for nice and clean things I have no choice but to clean and tidy up. I just feel that it is dull and boring. It was because of this attitude that I decided to do something about it. I had to change my attitude towards tidying up because I was always angry and in a bad mood whenever I cleaned the house.

One day as I was tidying up, one of my favourite songs started playing on the radio and I started dancing and my mood was lifted. I continued singing the song “Jesus love has got under my skin” and my day went perfectly. I was surprised as to how I managed to finish the work just because of that song. It is amazing how God can use ordinary everyday things to arrest us. I am so grateful for that day. It took a song to turn my life around by changing my attitude towards house work.

Now, I do not need to play any music because the music is within me. It is a very special part of me which I can not afford to do without. Whenever I am tidying up I always burst into a song and before I know it, the job is done. I did not start singing because of tidying up. I was always into singing since I was a child but it was only limited to when I am happy, at church and because something is playing on the radio. This is how I got the revelation of teaching my children to learn through play.

Children love to learn through play and all sorts of challenges. Consider creating some exciting games to help them tidy up. Before implementing the plan one needs to be organised and make sure things are in order.

Start by arranging the children’s room or rooms in a very simple and exciting way. Make sure all their special toys are within their reach. Put in a laundry basket and encourage them to put in their dirty clothes. A bookshelf will be handy for all those bed time stories. It just makes them easily accessible whenever they need them and will encourage putting them back in place. Once the room layout is organised it will be easier to encourage them to maintain the room tidy all the time. Reward them for keeping their room tidy and being helpful around the house.

Children love to be given responsibilities and being in charge or control of something. Start with the easy things and as they grow you can increase the responsibilities. Do not be discouraged if the plates are left oily or are not properly clean. They will get better with time but the most important thing is that you would have taught them how to do the dishes and also the fact that dishes need to be cleaned after use.

There are a lot of things I ask my children to do for me. My 5-year-old boy enjoys switching on the computer for me. When I am baking he greases the baking tray, cracks the eggs and whisks them for me. When making biscuits he always creates the different shapes and helps to put them on the baking tray. Start with simple things like asking them for a glass of water, putting your shoes away, bringing your handbag or bible, putting your jacket away, answering the phone and so on. I am sure that we all know that Rome was not built in one day. Our children are different; therefore some need less or more encouraging than others.

Remember to always say “thank you” whenever they do something for you. Whether it was done perfectly or not, the child will be encouraged and will want to do more. They will feel appreciated and loved as well. You will also be teaching them good manners, thus the need to say thank you. To be honest these children will not find it hard to thank God.

I enjoy rewarding my children most of the time as a way of encouraging them. I take them out occasionally to Macdonald’s, shopping for toys, Codonas, order a pizza to eat at home or go out for a movie. I do not do this all the time but I always choose a convenient time to say, ‘thank you, my children and keep up the good work’.

I am not saying everyone should implement all the things I have mentioned in this article but I hope that it will serve as an eye opener to things we can do as parents to encourage our children to help with house chores.

Teach your children well.

I am not an expect at this but I have some little knowledge which I have acquired in my 12 years of being a parent. The most interesting thing about parenting to me is that it is the most important job on earth and yet we are not well equiped for it. Please people go the extra mile and learn what good christian parenting is.

As concerned parents you can form a parent group on your own rather than wait on the Pastor. Do something for your children. Invite those who have written books on parenting or those who seem to be gifted in parenting. I am sure there are some people we know whose children have some mannerisms we admire and desire to be in our children.

The bible tells us to covet only good gifts.
1 Corinthians 12:31 (King James Version)
"But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way."
Ask them how they have done it. Do not be proud for it is for the good of your children.

God's intention for child birth and parenting was within marriage, Holy matrimony. It was in marriage that he commanded Adam and Eve to go forth and multiply and replenish the earth. Why? I think it is because God desires Godly seeds. He wants the children to know him, honour him and obey him.

Serving God is supposed to be a family affair. If one parent is a christian and the other is not, the family will be dysfunctional. The father is the head of the family, as Christ is the head of the church, therefore he needs to lay down the law.

No wonder why Joshua in, Joshua 24:15 (New International Version)
"But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."

Child raring requires a high level of stability, therefore we should feed our children on invaluable values by which they can live victorious, glorious, joyful, peaceful, loving and wonderful lives. Godly parenting is when we parent our children in the way God parents us.

The reason some of these western nations are suffering is because they failed to teach their children about God. This is the reason why a lot of people are in a mess. People are getting involved in certain things that do not glorify God. They have no values at all. They do not know where to turn to for help. The government that promises to help can not help because they themselves are seeking and searching for answers. How can the blind lead the blind? Disaster!!

There is a need somewhere that only God can meet and not scientology or any of these other things we hear about everyday. So parents, I beseech you by the mercies of God to build good and solid foundations for your children through the word of God. It is the only sincere milk that is vital for their growth and happiness in life. They will know where to turn to when in trouble or in need or in want of something, be it spiritual or material.

We need to provide for our children. As much as we expert God to meet all our needs, same with our children. They expect to receive good gifts from us. We need to buy them gifts whenever possible. Provide good food and clothes. Affirm them and boost their self esteem. Encourage honesty and working hard to achieve good results. Above all love them and spend time with them praying and playing together. A family that prays and plays together stays together.

Teach them care, commitment to family and respect of their elders and the importance of obedience. Romans 12 has got some wonderful pointers to teach our children. Every child is different therefore we need to study our children and know them individually. You can not do the same thing you did for Jude, for Apollos.

Nurturing of children should not be one sided. Both parents should be involved in the teaching and equiping of the children. It is a very good investment for their future. It is not the mother's responsibility to teach the children but also the father's. Teach your children regularly and have the same mindset as parents in order to avoid confusing the children. Teach them how to get solutions for everthing in the bible. Teach them patience and perseverance.

Teach your children about God and how to pray as early as possible. It is never too early. Do not be in a hurry, Take your time and this is the good reason for starting as early as you can. It needs to be well balanced. Give them freedom to choose eg food, toys etc. Encourage good habits eg prayer, saying thank you, offering a helping hand etc. Discipline them lovingly whenever appropriate but make sure they understand why. 'Because I say so!' may work, but, is not a very good answer.

Above all let us remember to pray for our children, for their careers, for their spouses and also for their children. This is one thing we should never take lightly, for it is one of the greatest gifts we can ever give to our children. For those who have not started yet, please do.

It is never too late to start teaching your children. Difficult it may be, but, God will always make a way to those who are willing to let him take control of their lives and situations. We are not alone, ask Jesus and he will be your guide.

Remember!! God chose you and he will always be there for you. Genesis 18:19 (New International Version)
"For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him."

Always be available for your children and be ready to answer any questions they may have e.g. sensitive issues like sex. If you are not available or free to talk to them someone else will. The most frightening thing is you do not know who and what they may be taught.

Get wisdom, get understanding.

The 4 basic personality types - which one are you?

How I came to know about the 4 personality types was just due to my desire to know who I am and what makes me tick. I enjoy watching and studying people and I am always wondering how so different we are and yet it is still the same God who created us. I stumbled into a book by Joyce Meyer called Managing your emotions, which was a great eye opener. I started looking for more information about personalities on-line.

I believe God has made us different for a purpose. There are challenges involved in working with people with different personalities than mine but there is nothing I can do because they also have to work with me as well. There is a need to understand each other. As much as I want to be accepted so does the other person with a different personality from mine. I believe that knowing one's purpose in life is one of the greatest achievements in life. You will begin to understand and tolerate others more. Remember!!! "United we stand and divided we fall."

I learnt that there are 4 personality types: Melancholy, Sanguine, Phlegmatic and Choleric. I will give a brief description of each type. Another important thing to note before we go any further is that most people have a mix of personality types but there is usually a more dorminant one. According to the online personality test I took, I am 80% melancholy and 15% phlegmatic and 5% sanguine.

Melancholy - Very deep thinkers who are very detailed. They believe that there is a place for everything and that everything needs to be in its place - very tidy and disciplined people. They are perfectionists and they set high standards. They are talented and creative - artistic or musical. Genius prone. Usually encourage scholarship and talent. Can be very critical, unforgiving and strict. Moved to tears by compassion. They spend too much time planning and are often not too keen to start new and unfamiliar projects. It is mainly this group of people that is normaly affected by depression because they are often a bit moody. Their nightmare is imperfection.

Sanguine - They have a very bubbly personality, are usually very loud, self centered and seem to bounce through life. They have a good sense of humour and are always quick to volunteer for jobs. They are into activities because they are very energetic and full of fun. Always inspiring others to join in whatever they are doing. They are the Me, me, me! people. They seek recognition most of the time and thrive on compliments. They normally forget their children's appointments. They waste time talking and their confidence fades fast. Keeps home in a mess and dislike being alone. Their nightmare is social disapproval.

Phlegmatic - These are usually the type of people who show little or no emotion at all (hidden emotions). They are very relaxed, peaceful and easy going people. (Calm, cool and collected.) Everything about them is normally simple, they like to stabilise things, never in a hurry for anything and they usually miss deadlines because they are not bothered. Have administrative abilities. They try and avoid conflict if they can and under pressure they slow down. They always try to find an easy way to do things. They dampen others' enthusiasm. Hard to get moving and can not stand being pushed to do something. They are sarcastic and teasing and do not like change. They take life too easy. As parents they are usually the children's favourite. Their nightmare is loss of security.

Choleric - These are naturally born leaders and they must correct wrongs. They are strong and crave to be in control. Very unemotional people who are independent and self sufficient. They are focused on results and prefer things done their way. They are normally motivated by challenges, new ideas and thrive on opposition. They always have the right answer to everything and are usually right. They normally get a lot accomplished. They can be very impatient and bossy. Very unsympathetic. Is not complimentary. Dominates others by making decisions for them. Can do everything better and sorry is not in their vocabulary. Can be very possessive of their friends and mates. Their nightmare is being taken advantage of by others.

The sincere milk - The word of God

It is sincere milk that is required by every child of God in order to grow. 1 Peter 2:2 (New King James Version)
"as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,"

When a baby is born it requires milk for it to grow. The milk provides all the nutrients that are required for baby's growth. Milk is good as it leads to development and protection for the child.

The balanced diet from the word of God will cause us to grow in revelation, faith, holy living, giving, loving God, working for God and loving the brethren, increase in knowledge and understanding the plan of God for our lives.

2 Peter 1:5-9 says, "Fruitful Growth in the Faith But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins."

When we give our lives to Christ we are delicate like babies. We also need our own spiritual milk. The word of God is able to provide all the nutrients and protection necessary and required by every growing baby in Christ.

Milk provides a balanced diet to keep the baby well nourished, strong and able to fight all forms of sicknesses and infections. So does the word of God protects his children from cares and worries of life, from sin, from sickness and disease (thus spiritual kwashiorkor)

The word of God provides immunity against all forms of infections like peer pressure, traditions, customs and etc. The word of God is able to protect our spirit, body and soul. John 17:17 says, " Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth."

It will be a shame or a cause for concern if a baby stays a baby. It has to grow. Drinking milk should make the baby grow. Same with us as we study the word of God we should be able to grow spiritually to maturity.
We need to grow so we can teach those who are coming after us.

Remember God is the word.
John 1:1 (Amplified Bible)
In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.

Emotions - How to manage them

Proverbs 4:23 (New King James Version) says,
"Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life."

Talk to Jesus about all the things that worry and bother you. He cares for you and knows all your problems. Also, you can find someone you trust and talk to them about what is worrying you. But I believe that Jesus Christ is the main man for the job.

The things that make you laugh may not be the things that make others laugh. You are unique. You are not strange.

Do not let your emotions control you. Take charge and learn to control your emotions.

Galatians 5:22-23 says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law."

It is talking about the fruits we will produce when we allow the Holy Spirit to control our lives.

Romans 8:6, says, "For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace."

It is saying if one's sinful nature controls their mind then death will come big time. But if the Holy Spirit controls one's mind then there will be life and peace in abundance.

Our emotions play a very big role in living a peaceful, joyful and successful life. Stay away from anger and angry people.
Psalm 37:8 says, "Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only causes harm."

Anger only leads to evil therefore one needs to stay away from it. All anger seeks, is revenge and no good ever comes out of it.

If vengeance is called for, be rest assured that the Lord God Almighty will bring it forth on your behalf big time. Remember the battle belongs to the Lord. The Lord will sort it out for you. He will even do a better job than you can ever do.

So peace to you and be still and know that God is in control, when you take it to Him in prayer. Remember when the tempest was raging the disciples only reported that, "Master the tempest is raging." They did not have to do anything else because they had already passed the baton to him. I think we all know what happened after that.

Friends do not suffer in silence. Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Keep your heart pure

And decide which wonderful fruit you would like to grow and nurture.

What are you planting in your heart?
Are you guarding your heart?
Everyday I live, I hope and pray that
I will spend planting seeds.
Seeds of Love, peace and joy.
And by His grace, I will keep my heart pure
I will buy anti-weed stuff
And kill them weeds.
Why?
Because I do not want to plant my seeds in vain.

The choice is yours.

Change in life will not take place until the individual concerned decides to do something about a situation. I decided a long time ago to turn my life around. To be positive and not listen to what the devil says and to rejoice always.

You have to look at yourself and take note of the places needing change and want change. Look at yourself and your life today and see the places you have messed up and say it is time to move on. There are some things you can not do anything about.

There is nothing that can not be solved. Things get solved all the time. The only thing is that they may not be solved the way one will be expecting but change will come. I believe that there will be an exchange somewhere.

We need to accept responsibility for the things that happen to us sometimes. It will be impossible to move on in life unless one is willing to accept part of the blame. Yes, someone else might have contributed to your pain and suffering but still make a choice to do something for yourself.

Sometimes we wish we had never met someone forgetting that the reason why we are crying is because we allowed the individual to mess us up. We gave them room either passively, through ignorance or willingly because we did not think that whatever it was, was a big deal.

Get over it and don't let guilt be a part of you at all. Confront the issue accept the part you played and ask God for forgiveness and the grace to move on. Do not listen to the lies of the devil, because he is the accuser of all men. You will get nowhere with anger, frustration, inadequacy, hatred and bitterness.

I believe that worrying is like a rocking chair. It keeps you going but it takes you nowhere. Choose to go somewhere with Christ. I know he will take you there only if you are ready, willing and have dicided to go with him.

I decided long ago to leave everything in his capable hands because he is able. You do not need to be depressed because with God you can overcome anything by his grace. Anything or circumstances of the past will not be able to control or influence your life anymore.

Each time the devil tries to remind you of your past or the bad things. Stand and tell him that you are not for sale anymore and that the old you is gone and that you are now a new being.

Dying everyday is the way forward.

I learnt some very wonderful mind-blowing things this weekend.

For me to make it to heaven I need to die to sin everyday.
I should aim for higher things.
I should focus on that very special crown.

It is not only me who will be awarded with this very special crown, but also those who are zealous about the Lord God almighty.

I have to die to speaking careless words for the words that come out of my mouth are powerful. They contain life and death. I need to confess positively always.

I need to die to slothfullness everyday, because, I will not be able to sow anything. The word says you reap what you sow . If I am not hardworking I will live in lack.

I need to die to saying O!Lord why me? O! why me and not them? I need to start saying why not me? Who do I want to get those things or those challenges I am going through? I will not be happy to hear someone say Lord why not her? So be careful my tongue what you say.

I need to die to pride. What people say will not be something I will worry about, but what God says. That perfectionist spirit must die and make room for the Lord. Brokenness is what I desire and long for.

I need to die to unforgiveness. It can be so painful but it is something I have to do. It will block so many blessings from God. I do not think anyone or anything is worth blocking my blessings from God. I honestly need to die daily with this one big time.

I need to die from any ungodly ambitions I may have. Those selfish desires that are not profitable at all should be erased from my mind. Ambitions that will not profit me and the kingdom of God should be frustrated. They should never be associated with me and my children.

I do not know what you are struggling with or what you need to die to, but I pray that the Lord will speak to you and open your eyes so you can see those key areas of your life that need sorting.

I pray that Jesus will deliver you from all kinds of weaknesses and temptations. It may be dying to jealousy, envy, laziness, selfishness, ungodly ambitions, sexual immorality, pride, unforgiveness, greed, lying, backbiting and gossiping etc.

As for me there is hope and I tell you things are getting better as I live one day at a time by the grace of God.

if anything is excellent

What speaking in tongues can do for you

This is one of my best ever topics and it is the first message I ever preached on. I can only hope and pray that you will feel the Holy Spirit's presence in you and that you will also be blessed big time as you read.

To start with I am going to go over who is meant to speak in tongues? Mark 16 Verses 17 – 18.
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
•Just before Jesus ascended to heaven he gave his disciples a run down of the most important characteristics that will be present in those who believe his name.
•These blessings belong to every believing child of God


Acts 2 verse 4 says,
“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
•From this we note that it is the Holy Spirit that gives us the utterance, just in the same way it did for the disciples.
•It is the Holy Spirit that enables us to do so but we need to open our mouths and speak as he gives the ability.
•Speaking in tongues is evidence of the holy spirit in one’s life BUT we need to remember that it is not the only sign. There are many more signs but for today we just focus on this one.

1) When you speak in tongues No man can understand what you are saying, even the devil can not. It is only God who can understand. It is our heavenly language
1 Corinthians 14 verse 2 says:
“For he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not to men, but to God: for no man understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries”
•Speaking in tongues is a divine coded language.
•In the spirit realm there are things you can not just speak or settle by communicating in earthly vocabulary.
•You can never use unacceptable or wrong words when you speak in tongues. Your heavenly father understands you perfectly well.

2) Speaking in tongues activates the power of God.
2 Timothy 1 verse 6 says:
“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.”
•We need to activate it and that is why Timothy is telling Paul to stir up the gift of God in him
•Do not let that power lie dormant, put it to use
•There is no need to pray for God to send down more power or anointing from heaven. You already have the power in you, just stir it up. Shake it and see what happens.
EXAMPLE. Let’s say you take two sugars with your tea. If you put two sugars and do not stir it, it will not taste sweet. There is no need to add some more sugar. All you have to do is stir it up and enjoy, shake it.


3) Praying in tongues helps you grow spiritually.
1 Corinthians 14 verse 4 says:
“One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but one who prophesies edifies the church.”
•It also charges up your spirit.

4) Speaking in tongues repels the enemy,
Isaiah 59 verse 19 says:
“So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.”
•Every child of God has a spiritual ‘force field’ around him or her which repels the enemy
•Looking at Job’s case we know that satan tried and failed and that is why he went to God to ask if he had a hedge about him, and around his house and all that belonged to him. Job 1verse 10
"Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land says
•When you pray in tongues the Lord will raise a standard.
•When you feel the pressure coming from left, right and centre, from your job, business, academics or any other are of your life, there is no need to cry or hide. Speak in tongues big time and God will raise a standard for you.


5) It refreshes and renews you “2 Corinth 4 verse 16
“For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.”

6) Spend good time speaking in tongues just like Apostle Paul did. 1 Corinth 14 verse18
“I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than you all:”
•No wonder why, he was such an inspiring workman. Here, he is letting us know that he spend quality time speaking in tongues. Note : It is not pride lol...



7) Speaking in tongues emboldens you. Acts 13 verse 46.
Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing you put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, see, we turn to the Gentiles.
•You will be strengthened and fortified to do the things of God in a way you have never known before.
•Every fear or feeling of inadequacy disappears when the Holy spirit begins to work in one’s life.

8) It helps one to pray aright.
James 4 verse 3
“You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it on your lusts.”
•If one is not aware of the will of God they are most likely to make the wrong prayer requests.
•Sometimes we worry about how to get money or how to do certain things without asking God whether he wants us to do or get those things. No wonder why we end up in problems because some of the things we desire were not meant for us.. Remember!!

Romans 8 verse 26.
“Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered”.
•God is aware of our limitations and that is why he gave us the Holy Spirit so he can help us pray aright.

Only praise

A lot of people underestimate the power of praise. To me praise means everything. It is food for my soul. I just can not do without singing. No matter what I am going through, it is only praise that can put a smile on my face. Only praise takes me there.

The reason I praise God is because I love him. I just love to sing about him and celebrate his marvellous works and also because the bible says let everything that has breath praise the lord and I am alive.

Every time I open my mouth to sing, I feel like dancing, I feel like clapping, I feel like laughing, I feel like jumping, I feel like..... I just can not explain the rivers of joy that just flood my soul.
Psalm 34:1 says "I will bless the LORD at all times;His praise shall continually be in my mouth."

One might not understand this but I know that when God does something great for me and I have nothing else to give. I can never fall short of praise. I always have a new song to sing to Jesus. I never struggle in this area. Only praise will do.
Psalm 104:33
"I will sing to the LORD as long as I live;I will sing praise to my God while I have my being."

Psalm 106:2
"Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? Who can declare all His praise?"

You do not need to wait for God, to do something out of this world for you before you can start to praise him. Even when you are waiting for your break-through and miracles sing praises unto God, sing praises. Who knows? Maybe that is what he is waiting for.

There are times in my life when I find it hard to pray. I just don't know where to start, what to say, how to say it, but, praise just happens like that. No matter how hard things may be, I just need a moment to reflect on my life and what God has done and before I know it I am singing.

I am sure most of us have been to watch our loved ones taking part in a sport or something. When you start cheering them up it means so much and it stirs something in them. You will see this through the effort they put in, just to avoid disappointing you. I have watched my children running and it's amazing to see them perform.

These are only our loved ones we are cheering up. What do you think your praise will do to God? I can only imagine? Honestly! I can only imagine?

Try it today. Do something new today. Only praise will do. I believe that it has to come from the heart if you want it to work.

I shall not be barren

The story of the fig tree is always fascinating to me. I am always praying for help to be fruitful. I do not want to be a disappointment to those who are expecting something from me. I can only imagine the pain our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ went through when he couldn't find a single fig on that tree. He cursed it.

My prayer everyday is not to be a disappointment to those expecting something from me, in season and out of season.

I shall not be barren. I will be fruitful in all areas of my life. In my ministry, in my circular job, as a mother, as a friend, as a child, as a sister and as a wife I will be fruitful. Good works shall be my portion in Jesus' name.

My prayer and aim is to get rid of all the hinderances to fruitfulness. These could be physical, mental or spiritual limitations that can block my way from enjoying and exercising the authority conferred to me by God.

Do not worry if you have been called forsaken because your name has been changed now to sought out. Halleluia!!!!

1) You must be born again
2)Be ready and committed to live a holy life.
Your life does not belong to you any more. It is no longer in your hands. Allow God to order your steps daily and always, and not when you feel like it.
4) Be prepared to be an entirely new creature. People will comment but do not worry about them
5) Live a life of prayer, fasting, worship, praise and service to God
6)look up and gain knowledge of who God is, what he expects from you and what he can do for you.
7)Have faith in God and believe that, that which he said he will do , he will do, if you faint not.
8) Wait for the promise and be anxious for nothing.
9)Yor confession is important to God. Call your miracle to being and don't ever doubt or waiver

My attitude .

The way you approach your neighbour determines how much you will get. God did not create Gentiles, Jews, Britons, Africans etc... He created man. It is man who gave names to different things.

A revolution began due to the agony and sacrifices people went through donkey years ago. One must be ready to retrain man and remind them than nobody is useless in the eyes of God.

When you train a man, he will be usefull and he will not give you any problems. Training is the deposit of wealth, knowledge and understanding.

You must trust God when prophetic words are given. Submit to training. Knowledge, wisdom and discerning of knowledge is what makes a prophet.

If God has given you a call be focused. Do not be intimidated by those who seem or appear better than you or anyone. Your obedience will make you a prophet. Do not be idle.

There are always giants or lions associated with any great move, but we should never be discouraged because the God we serve is mighty and there is nothing he can not do for his beloved children.

Your attitude towards anything is what determines how big you are. Even on a straight road there are humps, traffic lights and pedestrian crossing lines. Does that mean if you come across 7 you say that is it! I am not going any more because the disruptions are too much?

No! We keep on pressing on until we get there. The same with all the things God has placed in our lives. Some take longer than others and some are just simple and nothing to write home about.

Your attitude matters. Be focused because that thing you feel you may never be good at could change your life big time. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you and I know he will never let you down. He is the great enabler and that is why he came to assist you and make your life sweet and smooth.

Reject confusion

"Why, why, why me? I do not know what to do? Why are things this way and not that way? I begin to compare myself with others. If only I could change this or that."

People are confused because they try to figure out or sort out things themselves. God is saying to you and me today, STOP!!!

The spirit of confusion is not from him. He gives us a sound mind and not fear or sleepless nights.

"For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints."

God expects us to obey his word and not try and figure out things. Confusion comes by trying to figure out or locate an answer to a problem or solution that only God can give. Therefore, let go and let God, solve the problem. Just ask and he will do.

May God be your peace, your joy, your comfort, your love. Infact, whatever you want him to be, he will be. All you have to do is ask.

Just a closer walk with thee

Let us ask God each day to help us so we can not be found walking in the counsel of the ungodly or sitting in the seat of mockers, lest we become like them.

Let us pray that we will only delight in the law of the Lord and that nothing else will take our attention and his place.

Let us also pray for the grace to meditate on his word day and night.

Let us pray for the light to be with us always, so that we will not give any room for darkness to enter. John 1:4-5 says, " In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend[a] it."

"If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" Psalm 11:3

This study really did touch me big time. It was something I had never considered until the day we studied the verse at Sunday School. I thank God because I do not know what would have happened to me if I had not given my life to him completely.

To those of us who are wondering what foundations are? I will give you a brief description of what I am going on about. Foundations are just those things something or someone rests on, depends on or stands on. It is that solid thing in one's life that gives or offers you stability. In the construction industry it is that underground structure that supports a building. To a Christian it is Jesus.

From the study I learnt that one needs to be wise and decide on the type of foundation they need. This is because there are various dangers associated with choosing a wrong foundations.

We all have a past and that is our foundation. Our ancestors might have been involved in ritual killings, assassinations, idolatry, and other atrocities. We need to get rid of all these faulty and shaky foundations. As children of God we need to make sure that our foundations are good and clean without anything that brings shame. We need to break the chain of bad foundations and begin to lay down good ones for ourselves and for the future generations.

Take a look at the children of Israel in Psalm 106:34-43(New King James Version)

34 They did not destroy the peoples,
Concerning whom the LORD had commanded them,
35 But they mingled with the Gentiles
And learned their works;
36 They served their idols,
Which became a snare to them.
37 They even sacrificed their sons
And their daughters to demons,
38 And shed innocent blood,
The blood of their sons and daughters,
Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan;
And the land was polluted with blood.
39 Thus they were defiled by their own works,
And played the harlot by their own deeds.

40 Therefore the wrath of the LORD was kindled against His people,
So that He abhorred His own inheritance.
41 And He gave them into the hand of the Gentiles,
And those who hated them ruled over them.
42 Their enemies also oppressed them,
And they were brought into subjection under their hand.
43 Many times He delivered them;
But they rebelled in their counsel,
And were brought low for their iniquity.

This is why they had to cry out to the Lord for him to restore them and save them from dying. That is why they asked, what will happen if the foundations of the righteous are destroyed? They were seeking for solutions from God. They were wise and knew that once the foundations are faulty there is no stability. Everyone is free to do the same and I believe that the Lord our God is merciful and just. He is able to forgive and provide those good foundations to anyone who is willing. Just in the same way he provided for the children of Israel.

You want a good foundation, a solid foundation, a sure foundation, a firm foundation, a holy foundation, a wise foundation, a divine foundation, a strong and everlasting foundation, talk to Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the only true and sure, solid foundation that can make your life whole and solid again. Try him today.

Get rid of unnecessary weights

God removes things that we are heavily dependent on, or the things we look up to, such as idols. He loves us and he wants the best for us. He prunes us just to make sure we bear good fruits in season or out of season. He does not want us to depend on anyone else or anything that is not him.

Therefore, friend, do not be attached to anything that does not add any value to your life. Do not make your job, your children or your husband your idols. God should always be number one.

Positions and titles are not important. God can take positions and titles away from people to bring them close to him. Do not let anything override or take your relationship with God. Be it pain, suffering, lack, plenty and comfortable things or revenge.

Let us not spend time on unnecessary things. Ask God to help you decide on the necessary things to spend your time on.

2 Peter 1:3-4 (New King James Version)
"... as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."

It's Amazing

Isn't it amazing
How we do not take life so seriously
We sit down
We make plans
We just get on with it

Isn't it amazing
How we pretend that all is well
And go on to encourage others that all is well

I am just fed up with all the pretence

Thank God for Jesus

If Jesus had not come to this world, I do not know what would have happened to many of us. (Phillipians 2.) I was just wondering as usual and this strange thought came into my mind.

We would not have a name to call on. When in trouble, in doubt, in lack, in plenty, in sickness, in health, in sorrow and in times of joy. There would not have been anyone to share the joys and burdens with?

Thank God for Jesus, for he came to neutralise and destroy the devil's works (1 John 3 : 8) and all his evil plans. He came to give new life and to redeem us from our sins. (John 10:10)

Friends do you know that, there was a time, when people did not have a name to call on? During those days people did not pray as much as we do now. This is the reason why we hear of the Prayer of Jabez, prayer of Hannah, prayer of Daniel etc.

I wonder, if I had lived in those days whether there would have been the prayer of Roselie. I can only imagine what it would be all about. One thing I am sure of, is that it would have been a mind blowing and out of this world prayer.

To all the sisters out there.

Do not let anyone ever discourage you or put you down. You are 'fearfully and wonderfully made'. Just on that dating or courting game, a child of God should never be desperate for a man. You need to be patient. Good things or good men are not impossible to come by but they can take some time. God has good plans for all his beloved children.


Do not worry about men who want to change you. They are not serious and are not worth a dime. Just say to yourself, "I am what I am and I am happy because God created me in his own image." I believe that every thing God has created is good and unique. You may not like me. You may not like the way I talk or the way I dress but I am happy being me. It is your own opinion and I respect it so please respect mine.
Sisters be confident and happy in your own skin.

Tell yourself that, it is only God who has the right to change and do things to you. According to Psalm 8 verse 5, God created you and crowned you with honour and glory. In God's eyes you are beautiful and simply the best. You have your own desires and tastes. Just be yourself

Sisters, you need to be careful about those dictators who demand for you to change your looks, the way you talk, walk and maybe the way you lead your life. Honestly, how can someone say they do not like certain colours therefore you should not wear them. Why don't they find girls who already do the things they want? No one can recreate you better than God. There is a wonderful reason why God created you the way you are.

If they want you to change before you are even married, will you be able to meet or cope with their demands once you are married? You do not want to live the rest of your life living miserably. Be yourself. If the man does not like big earrings and lipstick, find someone who appreciates it. You can not punish yourself just because you need a man. Ask God for Mr Right and He will provide. Stop looking, let go and let God.

There is no need to accept another's opinion and live a sad life. We all have a right to be who we are, and also to be who we want to be. Dance, walk, talk, dress, laugh the way you like and the way your creator intended you to be.
Remember! You only live your life once, so enjoy it.
If you do not love and appreciate who you are, no one else will.`

I will Light a Candle

As I wake up in the morning

It's only love

I went for some food shopping today. As I got to the till, the lady in front of me was so kind. She was so helpful. She asked me if I needed help and I told her I was okay. She did not listen to what I said at all. Immediately, she just started offloading my trolley. After she paid for her own groceries she waited for me and helped me pack my shopping into bags and on to the trolley. I have been shopping for several months now with the crutches and very few people have offered to help me. Usually the ones who offer do not proceed to help, if I say I am alright.

What I saw in that lady was pure love. It can not be anything else. It's only love that is so giving, so patient, so kind and so considerate of others. My prayer is that the Lord Jesus will bless this woman beyond her expectations.

Many a times we meet people who are in need of our help. Because we are nice, we offer a helping hand but as soon as the person says they are okay we do not press on to say, "NO I will help!" As soon as the other person says, 'no' our job is done. Well, I did offer but you said you are okay, so that's fine with me.

Sometimes people say no because they do not want to inconvenience others. It is not that they do not need help but because of pride it is easier to say 'no' than 'yes'. It's only love that can go all the way without expecting anything in return.

I believe now is the time to check our 'love tanks' to see if we have enough love to share with the others. You do not need any money. All that is required is your time and your willingness to be part of something good. It is time to give to others but it has to come from the heart if one wants it to work.

When you offer to help do not worry whether the person you are helping or have helped will thank you. Sometimes they do not say thank you because no one has ever helped them and they are wondering if there is a catch somewhere. Some are too proud, of which I think is very selfish. Some were never taught to say thank you when they were younger.

Help because you want to help and not because you expect something in return. One does not need to know the people they are helping. God is our only rewarder. People who give expecting something in return always end up disappointed because some of the people they help are not able to help them when they are in need.

It's only love that can help strangers, those in need and those who are hurting. Love is the only greatest thing and it is even better and sweeter if shared with others.

The credit crunch

The first time I heard about this, I just thought it was one of America's inventions. I did not think much about it until sometime late last year when I went food shopping. I was wondering why things were so expensive. I just could not understand how expensive meat and fruits and vegetables where?


On the news they were always talking about the cost of living rising. I now understand what I thought was just American jargon. Fuel prices have just shot up. Basic household commodities are expensive. The other day a friend of mine who was visiting England from Trinidad was complaining about how expensive things are in London.

She said she was going to buy presents for her friends and family in Dubai where things are cheaper. After a few days she asked me what was meant by the term "credit crunch," because everyone was talking about it? I just explained to her that the reason why she was not doing her shopping in England is what the "credit crunch" is. It is crunching all the money people have.


It is even worse when you have children. The demand and pressure is too much. Starting from the school lunches and bus fares. I started comparing when I was growing up and the life my children are living now. I had so many toys but they were not as expensive as the ones my children have. The toy manufacturers were considerate then. I think, they must have had children of their own.


Now every toy needs batteries, they all come with accessories which you need to buy separately if you want your child to enjoy the toy. Look at the many versions of the Barbie doll. How about the wii? What a rip off!!!

No wonder, why, a lot of people are going for dogs instead of having kids. Once you feed it and take it for a walk, you are home and dry. If you need to buy any toys, it will be a ball of which will be of good benefit to you physically.


The credit crunch has actually increased the production of material goods. People are looking for business ventures. Ways to make money. The banks are afraid of lending. Major companies, banks etc are going into liquidation. What hope is there for the little businesses?

Yesterday, I went shopping and the man in front of me at the till paid for his grocery shopping worth £25 with 10p coins only. It took a very long time and the man was very appologetic saying that is all he had. The girl at the till just smiled and told the man not to worry and that he was not the only one.

And I hear on the news that Scotland has not been hit by the credit crunch yet. Is this really true? Where are they doing their shopping? Are the people of the North suffering in silence just because of pride or they have nowhere to turn to?

I wonder

Hey!

I am so excited to be writing to you all. Today I woke up wondering how it would be if I created my own blog. It has been something that I have been thinking about since my friend introduced me to her own. I fell in love with it. I am glad that I grabbed the chance I got so I can pour out my heart and my thoughts to you.

Sometimes in life we are presented with so many opportunities. Some are too good to be true and some you can't help but wonder whether someone put any thought to it. People are very different and they also can be very strange. It is amazing what can come out of their mouths, what they can do with their bodies and with their hands and minds.

People are capable of loving and can also hate like nobody's business. They can show enthusiasm or lack of it whenever they choose. They can build and they can destroy. When I look at different individuals I just can not stop wondering how complicated life is and halso how amazing the creator of heaven and earth is. I wonder.......
I think he is just too much. Look at the works of his hands. Just watch and see what his creation can do. The birds, animals and mankind do their own things. Someone once sang a song called, "God made Man and man made money" O! he is a wonder

Whenever I look at the animals I wonder whether there is acceptable or unacceptable behaviour in their community. Do they have any laws in their communities? I look at the flowers of the fields and wonder why they have such a short life span. They are so beautiful and before you know it they are all either withered or gone.

It makes one think seriously whether good people or things ever live long or last at all. I am just glad that I have so many opportunities at my disposal. Opportunities my granny never had, some of my friends have never had. I wonder how life would be if I wasn't me. I thank God, I do not believe that whatever will be, will be. I believe that I can do anything and that the power to change things is within me. I am the full package with nothing lacking.

Though I look at things strangely and am afraid at times and always wondering, why, they are like so, and not like so, does not mean I am confused or do not know what I want in life. I just love to explore. To me life is all about doing the best you can. Keep going, keep fighting, keep smiling. There is always room for improvement. One should never be discouraged or be afraid of failure. You win some, you lose some. Believe in yourself, prepare, concentrate and work hard.

I wonder!!!
